whatshotResearch Description
My research examines the ubiquitous nature of unequal social hierarchies in society and their role as a primary source of intergroup conflict. By understanding the contextual and psychological processes that underpin how hierarchies are formed, maintained, and influenced by one another, we can develop tools to change hierarchical systems to be more egalitarian. In my research, I probe human experiences within various interconnected social hierarchies, investigating the role of i) empathic and spiteful emotions in supporting intergroup harm, ii) group stereotypes in the experience and perception of prejudice, and iii) motivated reasoning in justifying unequal societal conditions.
