Psychology Department Resource Highlight: Course Substitute Database

What is it?: This Google Sheet contains decisions on course equivalency after syllabus review has been completed by the Psychology Department! This file has the most up-to-date information regarding approved courses from outside of our own Psychology Department.

The Course Substitute Database is maintained by the Psych SSO team and updated frequently. It contains information such as which Tier of Major Requirements the course has been approved for, such as Tier II or Tier III.

The sheet is currently sorted alphabetically by country, and then institution-- for UC Berkeley courses scroll down!

How to use: Students studying abroad, transfer students coming from other higher education institutions, and folks looking for approved non-Psych courses should use this tool.

Example: Student planning to go abroad to Seoul National University can see that the course "Psychology of Interpersonal Relations" has been approved as a Tier III course for the Psychology major until July 31, 2028.

Important Note: Reminder that students can use a maximum of 2 upper division approved courses from outside the Psychology Department towards their Psychology major requirements. This includes courses from other institutions, study abroad, and other departments on campus!

Check out this tool today, and don't hesitate to ask us any questions!

Spring '26 Major Application has opened!

This especially applies after hours and at all times to any floors and interior spaces that require key card access.
  • Those with key card access are not permitted to allow others into these secured spaces (tail-gating) for any reason and will lose after-hours access to BWW if they are found breaking this policy.
  • BWW recently sustained extensive damage last year due to a breach of this policy. Your adherence to this policy will contribute to our community safety and security.
