I graduated in 1968 with my BA in psychology and went to the University of Arkansas and enrolled in their medical technology program. The draft was after me and medical technology school wasn't deferred. I enjoyed myself way to much at Cal and didn't have the grades to get into medical school, but I took several classes with the second year medical students as part of the med tech program, and made straight As. I reapplied to med school and was accepted which also got me a draft deferment. I ended up graduating at the top of my medical school class and from there did my internal medicine training at the University of Oregon. I was in private practice until retiring four years ago.
