Premedical and Health Careers Planning Session
Co-facilitated by L&S Advising and the Career Center

Come learn about planning for premedical and pre-health careers' course requirements, academic considerations, extracurricular expectations, advising services/resources, and other factors to keep in mind as you pursue your studies.

Crafting a Strong Personal Statement Narrative for Law School

Tuesday, September 20th, 2022 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. PT
A presentation designed to share specific process advice, tips, and strategies for developing and writing a strong law school personal statement.

Harvard Law School Admissions Session
Co-facilitated by L&S Advising and the Career Center
Tuesday, September 27th, 2022 from 12 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. PT
Hear law school admissions officers' advice and perspectives to gain the foundations necessary to put yourself in the best position to develop a strong law school application.

 

2. Save the Date-Grad School Workshop 9/23 at 5pm

Sarah Manchanda, Berkeley's School Psychology PHD Candidate, will also be joining us as a panelist to share her experience going through the application process. We hope to see you there! 

 

3. Gilman Scholarship Workshop 

Eligibility: Seniors and recent alums who are U.S. citizens intending to start a graduate program in Fall 2023 in an area of relevance to the Foreign Service are eligible to apply for the Rangel and Pickering Fellowships described below. Students interested in learning more about these programs are encouraged to make an individual advising appointment with Keila Diehl (ourschol-coordinator@berkeley.edu.

Rangel Graduate Fellowship (2023–2024)
Application deadline: September 22, 2022
The Rangel Graduate Fellowship aims to prepare outstanding young people for careers in the Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State in which they can help formulate, represent, and implement U.S. foreign policy. The Rangel Program selects 45 outstanding Fellows annually in a highly competitive nationwide process and supports them through two years of graduate study, internships, mentoring, and professional development activities. This program encourages the application of members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service, women, and those with financial need. Fellows who successfully complete the program and Foreign Service entry requirements have a five-year commitment to work as Foreign Service Officers, in accordance with applicable law and State Department policy.

Pickering Fellowship (2023–2024)
Application deadline: September 29, 2022
The Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship is a program funded by the U.S. Department of State that prepares outstanding young people for Foreign Service careers. The program welcomes the application of members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the State Department, women, and those with financial need. Upon successful completion of a two-year master’s degree program and fulfillment of Foreign Service entry requirements, fellows have a five-year commitment to work as Foreign Service Officers, serving in Washington, D.C. and at a U.S. embassy, consulate, or diplomatic mission around the globe, where they promote human rights, assist American citizens overseas, enhance prosperity and development, deepen ties between the U.S. and people around the world, and support U.S. global values and interests

5. Health Tip
