Here are some important updates/deadlines to keep in mind for this week:
1. PsychSSO Office COVID-19 Updates
The major advisors are available online for appointments through the phone, zoom, google hangouts etc. If you would like to virtually meet with an advisor you are welcome to schedule an appointment. Let us know what works for you, and we are happy to make any accommodations. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
We have created a living COVID-19 Psych document for our students to refer to for the latest updates. We will be updating it on a regular basis with any pertinent information.
2. C.A.R.E Volunteers Needed!
C.A.R.E is a student-run on-campus initiative dedicated to cultivating mental health consciousness of senior citizens, caregivers, and students within our local community through arts-based interventions. In light of the impact of COVID on vulnerable populations including residents in local senior nursing homes, we are still working to offer as much support as we can through our C.A.R.E. to Share Initiative!
We are looking for student volunteers interested in participating in a virtual Talent Shows for senior residents in local nursing homes. They will be presenting a 5-10min showcase of their talent (fine art, performing art, culinary arts, poetry, magic tricks etc.) via Zoom session where they will have the opportunity to engage and interact with seniors to brighten up their days amidst the shelter-in-place policies. Students can sign up using this google form: https://forms.gle/AcBDF9Bdt3WnynbH8
3. Fall 2020 Peer Advising
Our psychology peer advisors are currently training to be ready to virtually serve you starting this fall. Peer advisors will be doing zoom drop-ins on Thursdays and Fridays starting September 10th. You can get to know them by looking through their bios here.
