Message from the Chair:
Dear Psychology Department Community:
We recognize that the events of the past week have been difficult for many of us and that the future may feel quite uncertain. Because there is strength in community and because we are all stronger together, we invite our community to come together on Wednesday November 16th at 3pm to share reflections, thoughts, feelings, and hopes and to reaffirm our Department’s commitment to diversity, decency, and inclusiveness.
We recognize that some of our Department will be away during this time at a conference, and in order for us all to be “together” as a community, we are inviting all members of the community, either in person or from afar, to write down a brief reflection. We plan to create a wall within Tolman that will display our collective community’s thoughts and affirmations, that can serve as powerful reminder of the inclusive values our Department promotes. It is our hope that this may help provide a bit of comfort during uncertain times both now and as we move forward together into the future.
Weather permitting, we will meet together outside Tolman on the east side of the building (just outside the Education Psychology library). Should it rain, we will meet inside in the Beach room, spilling over into the hallway and Warner Brown room if needed.
The Department of Psychology is steadfastly committed to inclusion, diversity, and support. We hope you will join us.

-As you may know, there is a credit restriction for Psych 110 after completing MCB/Psych C61 beginning Fall 2016 semester. Many of you stopped by our office inquiring about the credit restriction if an equivalent course of MCB/Psych C61 was completed from a community college. After conferring with my colleague at the Office of the Registrar, he confirmed the set-up of Psych 110 and MCB/Psych C61 is as follows:
If a student has transfer work that is articulated to MCB/Psych C61 as posted on assist.org website (e.g. Psych 24 from De Anza), then students will NOT receive any credit in Psych 110. Students must take Psych 117 or C127 to meet the Tier II Biological requirement.
If the biological psychology course was accepted by the Psychology department but the course is NOT articulated on assist.org website, then students may take Psych 110 to fulfill the Tier II Biological requirement.
Please make sure to verify the course articulation through assist.org website. If you have any questions, please feel free to stop by our office.
