Weekly Opportunities - July 27, 2020
Announcements

We have officially updated our weekly opportunities for the week of July 27th. Moving forward, the Weekly Opportunities will be updated on a biweekly basis. We will return to weekly postings in the Fall of 2020. Here are some important updates/deadlines to keep in mind for this week:

1. PsychSSO Office COVID-19 Updates

In light of the recent announcement made by the Chancellor, the physical PsychSSO office will be closed effective Tuesday, March 17 until further notice. The major advisors are available online for appointments through the phone, zoom, google hangouts etc. If you would like to virtually meet with an advisor you are welcome to schedule an appointment. Let us know what works for you, and we are happy to make any accommodations. Email psychsso@berkeley.edu if you have any questions.

We have created a living COVID-19 Psych document for our students to refer to for the latest updates. We will be updating it on a regular basis with any pertinent information.

2. New Degree Planning tool

The College of Letters and Science is conducting a soft launch of a Degree Planner effective July 2020 that can be found on CalCentral. This initial launch will primarily focus on a group of pilot majors, including the psych major, that will use the Planner as the primary tool for helping students to plan for enrollment through their Expected Graduation Term (EGT). The Degree Planner will be preprogrammed to show a pathway of enrollment to complete student's university, campus, college and major course requirements through you graduation term (EGT). Because it is connected to the student's Academic Progress Report (APR), it will acknowledge requirements that students have already completed, and exclusively surface and plan for outstanding courses students still need to complete.

This guide answers student's Frequently Asked Questions.

3. University Health Services - Black Lives Matter Resources

Due to the recent protests throughout the country against police brutality, we would like to share some great mental health resources for our black students to take advantage of. More information can be found on the UHS Black Lives Matter Website.

4. Summer Sessions Courses

Here is a list of great Psychology summer courses to take advantage of through the remote platform. You can view this catalog for a list of some of our most interesting courses! Additionally you can refer to the academic guide for the full course offering list!
