Research Information Session
Thursday April 13, 4-6 pm 3105 Tolman

Join us this afternoon for a workshop all about research opportunities in Psychology and how to get involved in research.  Two peer advisors will share their experiences and give pointers on everything from how to get into a research position to how to earn credit for it.  We’ll also have a lab manager available to answer questions about what they look for in an applicant. Facilitating a Fall DeCal Course
Deadline to meet with an advisor: Friday April 14

If you’re thinking about facilitating a DeCal course in the Fall, you’ll want to start planning soon. To have your DeCal proposal reviewed, please schedule a meeting with Christine by Friday, April 14th. After we meet, all required paperwork must be submitted in person to the Student Services Office (3305 Tolman Hall) by Friday, April 28th. Psychology Commencement Tickets
Additional Pick-Up Days:  April 19, May 1

As a special gesture to the graduating class, on behalf of PsychologiCal Committee, we will have two final complimentary commencement ticket pick-up days. Wednesday 4/19, 11am-1pm and Monday 5/1, 10am-3pm in the Tolman Breezeway. In order to receive your tickets, be prepared to show your Cal Student I.D. card and the printed verification of completing the exit survey. Become a Peer Advisor!
Deadline to apply: Friday, April 21

Are you excited about Psychology and eager to assist your peers? Do you have an interest in Counseling or Student Affairs?

 

Psychology Peer Advising is a great program to get involved in! We are looking for students who are very enthusiastic about the major and, are passionate about helping our students be successful during their time at UC Berkeley. Peer advisors provide the perspective of an upper-division student and share their strategies for academic success and knowledge of department resources and programs. Besides advising, you will also participate in events like CalDay, Major Madness, and Psych Commencement Ceremony.

 

Peer advisors will earn 1-3 units of Psych 198 based on the following criteria:

  • Must be able work 3-9 hours per week of walk-up advising in 3305 Tolman.
  • Must be able to dedicate 6 hours of advising during their first semester as a peer adviser.
  • Must be able commit for at least two semesters of Peer Advising.
  • Must take the lead on your own project or workshop to be completed at the end of the semester (e.g. course recommendation workshop, research, etc).
  • Must be responsible, reliable, and sensitive to student needs.
  • Must be available to volunteer at Commencement on May 18, 2017.

CalDay
Saturday, April 22

The Department of Psychology is joining the campus community for Cal Day, the annual open house for the Cal community. Not only will we have a table in the information marketplace, but we’re also hosting three information sessions throughout the Day. Come listen to Professor Ayduk’s presentation “Self-Talk: How You Do It Matters” at 11:00 am in 159 Mulford.  And check out all the activities for CalDay on the CalDay website.
