Tier I: Prerequisites for Fall 2014 Freshmen/Fall 2015 Transfers

Please note that ALL courses taken for the major (both lower division prerequisites and upper division requirements) must be taken for a letter grade.

Prerequisite Areas Course Options
Psychology
  • AP Psychology with a test score of 4 or 5
  • Psychology 1
Biological Science

Two courses are required.

 

One course from:

  • AP Biology with a score of 4 or 5
  • Anthropology 1, Biology 1A, IB 31, or MCB 32

One course from:

  • Psych C61/MCB C61 OR Psych C64/MCB C64 (Credit Restricted)
Social Science

Two courses. Note that the two courses must be from different departments.

  • Anthropology 3 or 3AC
  • Sociology 1, 3, or 3AC
  • Linguistics 5
  • Philosophy 3, 4, 5, 12A, or 25B
Quantitative

A total of 3 courses is required. Students must take Psych 10 and two additional quantitative courses.

  • Psych 10

  • Two courses from the list:

    • Math 10A &/or 10B, Math 1A &/or 1B, Math 54, or Math 55
    • or Choose one of the following: Stats 2, 20, or 21 

**NOTE: In addition to Psych 10, the following combinations are recommended: Math 10A-B (highly recommended), Math 1A-B, Stats 2 with Math 1A, or Stats 2 with Math 55.

Please note that AP exams and IB standard & HL exams do not satisfy the quantitative course requirement.
