Psi Chi Information Session
Tuesday, September 19, 6:00pm

Come learn about Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, at our information session on Thursday, September 14th at 6:00 PM (2304 Tolman)! This info session will give you insight into the application process and the benefits of membership. This is a great opportunity to grab an application form, meet some officers in Psi Chi, eat free snacks, and enjoy the fantastic Psych community we have here at Berkeley.
The deadline to apply for membership in Psi Chi is Friday, September 22nd.

 

The Alt Right on Campus: What Students Need to Know

A Presentation by Ryan Lenz of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and an expert on hate and extremism will share information on an orchestrated campaign by white nationalists to make college campuses their battleground.

 

Stress and Time Management Workshop

Thursday, September 21, 5-6:30pm; Warner Brown Room (3201 Tolman Hall)
Do upcoming midterms have you stressed out? Are you not sure how to manage your time so that you can study for all your classes? Have no fear! Come to our stress and time management workshop on Thursday, Sept. 14th, 5-6:30 p.m. You will learn about how to best manage your stress and time in this upcoming busy midterm season. What’s more? There will be snacks! It will be a good time.

 

Research Assistant Positions
Final Deadline: September 20

Students can earn 1 unit of credit for every 3 hours per week that they work as a research assistant in a lab. If you are interested in getting involved in research and earning credit, click here to view and download descriptions of opportunities in the Department of Psychology for the Fall. Once you’ve been accepted as a research assistant with a lab, be sure to complete and submit the Psych 199 application deadline to enroll in units. All applications must be received by September 20 in order to be reviewed by the final Add deadline.

 

Honors Thesis
Final Deadline: September 20

Students who are interested in pursuing an Honors thesis have until the third week of classes to submit the application and be able to add the class for free.  If you miss this deadline, you must submit the signed application by September 22 and will be charged an additional fee in order to add into the proper classes. 
Whether or not you have submitted the application and officially enrolled in the Psych H194A Honors Seminar, you should attend the first day of the Seminar lecture.

DeCal Facilitation for Spring
Deadline to meet with the Psychology DeCal advisor - Friday September 30
Deadline to submit DeCal proposal - Friday October 13

If you are thinking about facilitating a DeCal class in the Spring, set up an appointment to meet with an advisor to talk through your idea and learn about the process.  All DeCal classes offered in Psychology in the Spring must be vetted by an undergraduate major advisor before being reviewed by the department.  For more information about deadlines, new information for Spring, and the proposal process for DeCal classes in Psychology, visit our website here:

Psychology Major Application
Final Deadline: October 6, 5:00pm

The Psychology major application for Fall 2017 is available on our website now. You are encouraged to submit the application in the semester when you are taking the last of your major prerequisite courses. So as soon as you are enrolled in the last prerequisite class you can submit the Psychology major application.  Students who wish to declare Psychology this semester, must submit the online application by Friday, October 6 at 5pm.  Late submissions will not be accepted.
