The Science of Burnout

At this day-long seminar, led by GGSC Science Director Emiliana Simon-Thomas, Ph.D.--with special guests celebrated compassion teacher Joan Halifax, Ph.D., burnout expert Christina Maslach, Ph.D., and UCLA psychiatrist Elizabeth Bromley, M.D., Ph.D.--you’ll explore the characteristics of burnout, its negative consequences, and the individual and organizational factors that make it more or less likely. Attendees will learn about the biological and psychological consequences of burnout—and differentiate it from related concepts like chronic stress, depression, and so-called “compassion fatigue.”
