Psychology Welcome Event
Wednesday, September 6; 2:30-4 pm
Tolman Hall Breezeway

Join the Psychology community in the Tolman Hall Breezeway next Wednesday September 6 from 2:30-4 pm.  Have a bite to eat, meet some faculty members and connect with your colleagues. It’ll be a great chance to learn about different ways to get involved with the Psychology here at Berkeley and beyond.  Please RSVP online here so we can be sure to have enough refreshments for everybody. Folks who RSVP online in advance of the event will get a bonus raffle ticket for a chance to win prizes.

Enrollment Questions
As of the first day of classes, enrollment in upper division Psychology classes has been locked down for further enrollment. This is to allow the Scheduler time to manually process the waitlists and enroll students into available seats. If you are on the waitlist for a class you want to take, stay on the waitlist and allow the Scheduler to make the adjustments to the enrollment.  We cannot make guarantees to students who are waitlisted that a space will become available, but your best chance to be enrolled is to persist in the class until all adjustments are made.
If you are not yet on the waitlist for a class you want to take, then it's very unlikely that a space will become available at this time and we strongly encourage you to consider a different course. You may even consider taking a class that does not meet a specific Psychology major requirement such as one of the following.

  1. Take a DeCal class.
  2. Be a Research Assistant and receive Psych 199 credit.
  3. Explore courses from other disciplines. See the listing of suggested classes online here: http://registrar.berkeley.edu/registration/suggested-classes

Honors Thesis
Application due September 8
We have begun accepting applications for the Psychology honors thesis.  Students who are interested in pursuing an Honors thesis have until the third week of classes to submit the application and be able to add the class for free.  If you miss this deadline, you must submit the signed application by September 22 and will be charged an additional fee in order to add into the proper classes.
Whether or not you have submitted the application and officially enrolled in the Psych H194A Honors Seminar, you should attend the first day of the Seminar lecture.
Visit our Honors webpage for more information about completing an Honors thesis in Psychology.

Research Assistant Positions
First Deadline: September 6 (to enroll before Add Courses without a Fee)
Final Deadline: September 20

Students can earn 1 unit of credit for every 3 hours per week that they work as a research assistant in a lab. If you are interested in getting involved in research and earning credit, click here to view and download descriptions of opportunities in the Department of Psychology for the Fall. Once you’ve been accepted as a research assistant with a lab, be sure to complete and submit the Psych 199 application deadline to enroll in units. Applications submitted by September 6 will be reviewed and you will have a class number to enroll before the deadline to add courses without a fee. All applications must be received by September 20 in order to be reviewed by the final Add deadline.
