I am interested in the biological underpinnings of human memory and other cognitive function. In this cognitive neuroscience approach, I use neuroimaging techniques, such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), to identify the neural dynamics of memory processes.

I am also interested in the normal aging process and memory impairment associated with brain damage and disease. The function of the prefrontal cortex has become central in understanding how we control our attention to perceptions, memories, and even emotions. Different regions within the prefrontal cortex regulate different aspects of cognitive function. A prominent goal of my research program is to understand how the prefrontal cortex acts to guide and control memory processes.
